General Gynaecology

Many women believe that gynaecological check-ups are not a necessity, but they are one of the most effective ways for women to receive preventive health screening and education that is specific to women. Dr Magopa is highly experienced and passionate about treating the health needs of all women from adolescents to geriatrics.

Many of the conditions that affect women's health, including cervical cancer, breast cancer and the human papillomavirus (HPV), can exist without any signs or symptoms. Regular screening can detect these conditions at earlier stages when they can be treated most effectively. Additionally, Dr Magopa is understanding of the reproductive health of females, making her the ideal person to give advice on contraceptive options and ways to protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

You should start seeing a gynaecologist when:

  • You start becoming sexually active
  • You're aged 21 or over
  • You start noticing unusual symptoms, for example, irregular periods or lack of period, unusual discharges, etc.

Dr Magopa offers a wide range of women’s healthcare services, including:

  • A general check-up: which may include taking your blood pressure, conducting a urine test, weighing you, listening to your lungs and heart, and possibly a haemoglobin test, which requires a finger prick.
  • Pap smear: a painless test used to detect the presence of precancerous or cancerous cells on your cervix.
  • Breast exams: Dr Magopa examines your breasts for any lumps or abnormalities.
  • Sexual Health: Dr Magopa will test for HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and provide treatment if necessary.
  • Hormonal problems: Dr Magopa treats various hormonal conditions, including PCOS-related hormonal imbalance and irregular testosterone levels and hormonal issues after menopause.
